The Washington Redskins’ season is done.
It’s over, and I mean that as very, very serious.
The final week of the season is over.
There are no more games.
There will be no more playoff spots.
I know that sounds pretty harsh, but I think it’s really fair to say that Washington will be the last team to play in the Super Bowl.
This is the last chance to see what’s possible.
I don’t think there’s a better time than this to get the Redskins to the next level.
I think we’ve got a great group of players, a great coaching staff, a very talented offense, a talented defense.
I mean, there’s just so much talent in this locker room.
I’ve said this all season: I’m not surprised the players are getting the calls they want.
I’m just surprised they haven’t gotten the calls that they deserve.
There’s just a level of professionalism and respect that’s hard to find.
I love the guys that we have here.
I can’t tell you how excited I am for them.
I just don’t know if we’ve done it the right way in terms of the expectations of these guys.
But it’s not the end of the world.
It doesn’t mean that I don.
There is still a long road ahead.
I do think there is a chance to get to a Super Bowl, and that’s the best thing we can do for this organization.
I really do.
I also think that this team has been through a lot of adversity this year, and it’s helped us as players, and the coaches, and obviously the front office.
This team has played some of the best football we’ve ever played.
The defense is so good, the offense is so great.
This roster is very talented.
We’ve got some talented guys, and we’re going to need a lot more than we’re getting right now.
I have to give this team some credit, though.
They’ve been through so much adversity.
The players know what they’re getting into.
The coaching staff is ready to roll.
The front office is very smart and very good.
And they’re doing the right things.
But this is not over.
And the guys have just got to keep doing what they’ve been doing for so long.
They know what it’s going to take to get back to the Super 16.
I believe they will.
I hope they will because this is a tough place to be.
But I just want to thank them.
This has been a long, tough road for these guys and it is an amazing opportunity.
I’ll always remember the night they lost in the NFC championship game.
And I’ll never forget that.
I feel like that’s what they should be thanking them for.
I always believe that there is nothing more important than the future.
And right now, that’s where we’re at.
